Battle of the Episodes: And the Winner is…

20131202-222554.jpgOur Journey must end.

We last left off with you, our faithful, ESL readers, basically flipping the virtual coin between Shreveport and Bon Temps (brackets) to determine our last stop on our road through the True Blood episodes. Which was extremely tough since you were choosing between Shreveport’s “I Wish I was the Moon” and Bon Temps’ “I Will Rise Up”.

The votes have been counted and we have a winner!

So buckle up one more time because we are headed to:

“I Wish I was the Moon”, the number 1 seed in our tournament went all the way to the top spot!

I hope y’all had as much fun as I had on our road trip together.

Till next time loves!

About B

Really, there is never enough Eric... I'm loyal to the Viking, no matter what. I will love him whether in Book, Show, and just because... my first thoughts are of him and I close my eyes to dream of him. As far as I'm concerned, the night can not get here soon enough.

  1. This was my favorite! This is where we got the most Eric and Sookie together. It is what we all want in the end, Eric and Sookie together! To bad it didn’t last.
Thanks for having Battle of the Episodes!

  2. My second fav but still a good choice. I Will Rise Up will remain the episode that I have always watched the most. Even more than, Eric and Sookie’s first hook up because for me that’s what happened in I Will Rise Up even though it was a dream or perhaps a view of the future. THANKS, ESL for the contest.

  3. Well, I say that there was no loser here, both episodes are winners for the almost say reason. Eric and Sookie together…..sigh…….. Of course with all the Eric and Sookie lovin’ in I wish I was the Moon. It, to me, was the best episode of TB ever.

  4. darn, I meant “same reason” in the first line. Sorry!

  5. My favorite episode of trueblood, Eric and sookie the best

  6. These two episodes were a tie for me :)…But I had voted for ‘I will rise up’ because I cried with it 😛

However, I wish I was the moon contains my ‘the favorite scene’ 🙂

  7. Wow! I Wish I Was the Moon beat out I Will Rise Up. IWRU, as I’ve “said” before, is my favorite TB ep of all time. It showed us so much of what Alexander Skarsgard can do as an actor: funny, tricky for a GOOD cause, sexy, loyal, tragic, heartbreaking, defiant. leader, strong. I love Nancy Oliver, and I will always miss her. Oliver also helped bring out the best in Allan Hyde and Anna Paquin. Actors can be the best in the world, but if great writing isn’t there, it doesn’t matter.

That being said, I love IWIWTM as well (except for the boring rapist) and I am genuinely happy it won the ESL poll. This episode actually made me cry, twice, because I feel so sorry for Eric that he never gets a fair shake with Sookie. I’m sure the TB PTB will have a good laugh if they read this. I wish Alex and Anna had had more screen time together in that ep, but the time they did have together, they sure did make it count. 😉 Too bad it meant nothing. Oh, well.

Thank you, B and ESL, for putting all this work into this poll. I enjoyed participating/voting, but you guys did the actual work. Happy New Year/Happy Winter. 🙂

  8. I good choice, although I love “IWRU”, I’m glad an episode from Season 4 won, as the run of episodes from 4.1 to 4.8 is my favourite run in the show.

Sookie and Eric were both very good in “IWIWTM”, and as good Sookie episodes are much rarer than good Eric ones I particularly enjoyed her putting Bill in his place early on, and her banter with Jason when he thinks he is turning into a were-panther. This is also the episode that contains my favourite line ever, “You’re a Viking vampire god and you bow to no one. If someone crosses you, you rip out their liver with one fang.”

As for the actual song IWIWTM, thanks to True Blood, I will love it forever!

  9. Evie-I agree that good Sookie episodes are so much more rare than good Eric episodes. 😦 I loved most of s4 eps 1-8 (up until the last 20 minutes or so of ep. 8, when Sookie guilt-trips Amnesia Eric into the IMO ultimately pointless-for now?-witch war to help her beloved boring rapist, but I digress). I also loved most of s2 and s3. S3 was my fave year. Sookie actually remembered she cared once upon a time for Eric in IWIWTM. Anna really put that across. I liked Sookie with Jason too. And I also liked Pam’s line to Eric. When he is written in character, he is a Viking vampire god. Sookie is a fairy princess. That could have been an interesting interaction (that didn’t need to involve sex to be interesting, not that I’m complaining).

Neko Case’s song is what turned on the waterworks for me. I’ll get the lyric wrong, but it was when she sings something like, “How will you know if you’ve found me at last? ‘Cause I’ll be the one, be the one with my heart in my lap” or something like that (going on memory). It was all about Eric, NOT the boring rapist, and it got me. Twice. Eric, when he is written in character, genuinely loves Sookie, and she’ll probably never get out of PTSD mode, and he might be knocked out for good with arbitrary vampire politics, again. Thanks for nothing, HBO. 🙂

  10. Just wanted to add that I love the picture of Eric and Sookie on the ESL home page from IWIWTM (when the song was playing in the ep). It was good times… 🙂
