Spotlighting Fanfiction: A Story that set the Standard

fanfiction_bannerThere are some great stories out there in the cyberworld written by fan fiction writers. And it is all to easy to be drawn into one of them while sorting the recommendation results while trying to decide how I wanted to start my labor of love. Then it hit me… I should start with one of the best Eric/Sookie stories out there that is still talked about till today even though it has been a completed series for many years.

I am talking about Terri Botta’s Let Love In.

A story inspired from the book side of the fandom, Let Love In takes place after events in From Dead to Worse. The synopsis was simple: Eric decided it was time for him and Sookie to come to an understanding. Boy did they ever. Terri Botta created a rich universe that grew to include 3 side stories (Best Laid Plans, Kodak Moment, Life and Death in New Orleans) and a full length continuation: Hope is a Thing with Feathers.

Ive been around this fandom for a while, and every time a new reader enters the world of fan fiction  and asks where should they start and Let Love In has always been the top recommendation. To this day,

If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet its been a while since you’ve last read it, I do recommend you take the time to do so.

Happy reading!

** Terri has written several stories for several fandoms and has published 2 original works.

About B

Really, there is never enough Eric... I'm loyal to the Viking, no matter what. I will love him whether in Book, Show, and just because... my first thoughts are of him and I close my eyes to dream of him. As far as I'm concerned, the night can not get here soon enough.

  1. I totally agree. It was one of the first I ever read when I discovered the SVM fanfic world. I can now add EricIzMine to that list of all time “best ever” fanfics. The authors I have discovered over the last 7 years or so have been amazing and are a credit to the world of writing. Ok, a few, not so much, but mostly yes 🙂

  2. Terri was my first and i loved her stories …. it was always a story i would go back to .. it is how i found other writers to read and i am forever grateful for that. KY

  3. does anybody know where “Late” can be found? I hate spending so much time reading something with no end 😦

  4. Could you please let me know the titles of her original books or her penname? Tnx 🙂

  5. Terri Botta was my second FF writer .I read all her stories and they are all awesome.I started reading FF stories about Eric and Sookie after Book 11 of the SVM books I smelled a rat I didn’t like what CH was doing to our favourite couple the breaking of the blood bond made me think that CH was going to break them up (and she did). There are so many other FF writers that I’m following and they are all great writers: Better than the show or the books. here are soe of them : California Kat Kjwrit, Kittyinaz,Ficlit78,MagsMcdonald,Inlovewitheric,wannabewriter,MistressJessica,Hisviks,Idream2332,Gyllene, Addicted2Godric,VictoryinTrouble,EricsminionEricizmine and many mant other! Check their stories you won’t regret it Take care everybody

  6. You have picked a wonderful writer. There are a handful of stories I re-read and Terri Botta’s are right at the top of the list.

  7. I found Fanfiction when I went looking for the translation of what Eric said to Pam when they met Sookie in TB. One of the forums I came across mentioned Let Love In, thus began my foray into (obsession with) Fanfiction.

    Thanks for the reminder 🙂

  8. It was the first one I ever read. I’ve been hooked ever since.

  9. Thank you B for reminding me about Terri’s stories. There is so much ff out there that I haven’t had a chance to go back to her stories in what seems like forever. Ioved each and every one of her stories and I must reread them again.

There are so many great writers out there I just wish there were more hours in a day so that I could read more sooner than later……..LOL Definitely been hooked on fanfiction for years now. So glad you are promoting these stories as they will be the only way that our Sookie and Eric have a HEA.

  10. Perfect spotlight choice! As others have said, Let Love In was my introduction into the fanfiction world and was just as good the 4th time through as it was the 1st.

  11. I love this series, it will always be my favorite.

  12. Now where can I find Terri’s works???
    Never read her stuff.
But I need something new to keep me busy?

  13. Let Love In is still one of my all time favourites. It’s such a shame that we started with such phenomenal fanfiction and have devolved. I wish she still wrote for ES because I miss quality storytelling like hers. There are a few other authors, (kjwrit, California Kat for example) who are excellent but Terri was one of the original wonders.

  14. I totally agree with you missron! There is a lot of great writers out there, but Terri is one of the best. Her stories never get old. No matter how many times you read them!

  15. (Thank you for the shout-out, Jackie69!) I wish I could remember what brought me to the world of fanfics, but whatever it was, I do thank it. We have some AMAZING writers, and Terri Botta was one of the first I read. If she’s reading this – and I do hope she does: THANK YOU FOR THE GIFT OF YOUR TIME AND IMAGINATION! 😀

  16. I’m reading Let Love In,and I think It’s an amazing fan-fic.I would like to indicate another awesome fan-fic: Pretty Kitty by ficlit78;it has 60 chapters.I hope you enjoy it!

  17. I’m now taking a leisurely stroll through a lot of veteran fanfic writers who, alas, are no longer writing. Terri is one of them. Meg2 has some astounding work out there –you should spotlight her as well. So many wonderful women have set the standard for what fanfiction should be –taking original characters and, in my opinion, writing work that is far and above the original works. A testament to the strength of these book/show characters that writers are still coming up with fresh material. Such enduring characters. Sorry to see TB go down the tubes as it were. But nothing hurt my heart like the crap ending to the series by the author who shall not be named…..
Ladies –rock on with your bad selves!

  18. I also like Makesmyheadspin and Scribeninja (Scribe no longer writes fanfic). Among their other endeavors, they used to write together as Brainmates.
